After a long week of filming a more extensive production for the Stephens film institute, and wrapping up Two Sides, we hit the ground running with a 48-hour film festival. This means we are given all the rules and regulations, assigned our teams, and any necessary information in a big group. and then a timer starts with precisely 48 hours to group off into our teams, conceptualize, create, and export a short film before the timer goes off. I was working closely with mentors Chad Fredrichs, and Kyle Z. Anderson. As goes with film production and Murphy law, because of the nature of the festival, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Our team lead was late, by over 2 hours, and missed crucial time with our mentor, when they did appear on set they were missing our light kit and previously discussed necessary props. The energy on set was tense but positive. I got to work on putting props in silly places and the tiny details and realized I had a passion for set design and special effects. I am also responsible for the embodiment of “dave Kensworth”. He smelt awful. I had so much fun working on DaveI felt I was being helpful and having fun. The actor was truly a delight to have on set and was gifted at improv. As we went into the evening we had to start editing soon, so we wrapped and headed to the lab. At this point, even our adrenaline is drawing from us and everyone involved is getting increasingly more sleep deprived. Our team editor stepped forward and went to work with the assembly cut.We (3 people) had 48 hours to create something from scratch. -
This was for my first Adobe Premiere project in high school in my digital media class. I will be the first to say that the lack of experience shows. I did not like my teacher at the time, but he did not take away my desire to keep creating, and that's when I knew I really did enjoy video creation and editing. -
This was for junior year of high school and we were burnt out and willy to be cheeky for a laugh. Our teacher Just wanted some sort of story for our creative writing class and this group just went for whatever this became. -
This was the first time I was included in something that wasn’t for a class. The director is now one of my best friends and I can say this is the film that began us living together. I did a couple of the shots and I was super proud of what accomplished my first time being in Washingtonm, DC. I did some gaffing and even made a cameo as a character in this film. It premiered at the end of the year and it was a cathartic release as all of us at the premier could relate to the story being portrayed on the screen. This was a film I worked on with friends and really enjoyed the set dynamic. I also appear shortly in the film. -

The entirety of my first semester of college was spent on pre-production for this film and I still have not seen the final edit. I originally signed on for casting and worked with my team to choose sites, market the auditions and host them on the day of. After we were cast, the need for the team diminished. We ended up working alongside cinematography. where we tested out experimental shots and got to play with camera toys and lighting. We also got to see the set design before filming, which I always loved seeing. and by the end of the semester, we had pre-produced an entire short film. I am so thankful for this experience with Stephens and my professor, the director Steph Borklund. genuinely, my favorite professor, I will ever have. She taught so much more than just film and I am eternally grateful for her. This was probably the most incredible experience I have ever had on a set, it was the first time it wasn't being led by one of my pers and instead by industry professionals that work in film.
